Hi,
Last year, for personal reasons (a sick family member that I wanted to be closer in location to), I had to turn down my Williams & Connolly offer for a different firm, but I am still really disappointed in that decisions and did not love my summer experience this year. I would love to reapply after clerkships, but would it be a black mark against me that I previously declined an offer from them?
Does W&C reconsider people who declined offers previously? Forum

I don't think it will be an issue, particularly since you had a perfectly good personal reason to turn them down to begin with. My sense, as someone going through a somewhat related process (summering in one city and then going back to the firms I had offers in another city to try and recruit for post-grad) is that so long as they buy your reason for turning them down to begin with, they're perfectly open to you coming back and interviewing for a position. (I have heard that people have much more difficulty doing this with firms in the same market, likely because its harder to show a personal, rather than professional, reason why you turned them down initially).frua11333 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 1:42 pmHi,

W&C in particular does a lot of post-clerkship hiring, so I don't think you should be that concerned. I am speculating now, but it might actually be a plus for your application, and so long as you kept up a good relationship with the folks you spoke with, you might be able to go right to the callback stage or do more of an informal interviewing process. That's how it's been in my experience with 3L hiring.
