Hi all,
I'm at a midsized shop and will be putting in my 3 weeks on Monday (as I just got an offer today, but have some hearings I need to wind down, which I'll be doing via zoom).
Is it okay/horrible that I've got a vacation scheduled for 2 of those weeks? I've had this scheduled since January and sent out reminder emails over a month ago that I'd be gone. Is this a shoot yourself in the foot kind of thing?
Any tips from folks who have done this kind of thing would be appreciated!
I'm probs overthinking it, but would like any insight.

Re: 3 week notice/vacation
Why not take your vacation as planned, and then give two weeks' notice on the day you get back from vacation?

Re: 3 week notice/vacation
This is what I did. Took two weeks paid time off and handed in 2 week notice right when I got back. I also negotiated with my new firm that I would not start until two weeks after I left my prior firm. So I got like 1.5 months off.

Is your offer pending conflicts, or have you already done that? Remember that conflicts can take a few weeks.

Re: 3 week notice/vacation
This is the OP. It's a govt position with immediate need and not any real flexibility. Can I give a a longer notice time?
