Incoming NYC V5 First Year Associate Interested in White Collar Lit

Post by FutureisFintech » Tue Aug 23, 2022 2:48 pm

During my summer last year, I got the chance to get some pretty broad exposure across a variety of practice groups doing commercial lit, regulatory work and investment funds and debt finance. But, I didn’t get a chance to try white collar work. It seems really interesting and I really want to try it- how do I integrate myself into that group and what are the requirements? Do you need a clerkship/government experience (SEC/DOJ) to advance to partner level? What does the day to day work look like as a junior and mid level. Exit options?

I don’t have a clerkship lined up or anything, but I did participate in the SEC’s legal honors program in law school.
