Signing bonuses
Do firms give signing bonuses for summer associates? Heard about it tangentially; does it exclusively apply to diversity scholarships or is it for anyone a firm really wants?

Re: Signing bonuses
I got offered a signing bonus and it seemed motivated by them having a very small SA class size and trying to get people to respond quickly. Signing bonuses are a way to get quick responses without running afoul of school recruiting rules. I jokingly told a friend in BL I might want to try to negotiate one with a firm that didn't offer it and they were comically horrified by the idea.
