Decent NYC Gym with Monthly Membership for Summer Associates
Does anybody know of decent gyms with monthly membership options for summer associates--preferably in Hell's Kitchen or on the Upper West Side? Seems like most gyms are looking for minimum one-year commitments.

Doesn't your firm comp a summer-long gym membership at Equinox? Many NYC biglaw firms do that for their summers. If not, try New York Sports Club, Planet Fitness, and Crunch.

Is it standard for NYC firms to comp gym membership for associates?

Yes. Paul Weiss did this when I was there, and from what I remember, this was standard among peer firms as well.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 11:19 amIs it standard for NYC firms to comp gym membership for associates?

For associates? Yes, you typically get some kind of gym benefit (corporate subsidy, partial reimbursement, etc.).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 11:28 amYes. For summer associates? Never heard of that perk before.

@OP, obviously this is a matter of personal preference & what fits your routine, but I would recommend a gym that is close to the office (i.e., the YC if your office is in midtown or Equinox if Hudson Yards), rather than a gym that is close to your home. That may cause an issue for weekend and WFH days, but you can run / bike / do home gym stuff on those days.

I unironically would love to do this. I suck at my job, so perhaps my 315lb bench press could gain me some respect.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 4:41 pmIdk I don't really like the idea of working out next to coworkers.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 1:36 pmWhite & Case has an internal gym, they really respect their associates
