incoming 0l, really interested in data privacy and cybersecurity; regulatory/advising companies especially on matters of ECPA/SCA/law enforcement access.
the usual suspects have offices in both places (cooley, mofo, hogan, orrick).
i woudl like to pick one market and stay there. wife won't be able to relocate once we are there, so it's either goign to be one or the other.
any advice? some of the lateral openings i see right now are for SF.

It probably depends on the firm more than anything. Also, you may already know this, but good amount of work in those practice areas is in DC.

I only know how my firm works, but the folks doing law enforcement access work are primarily in DC. Most cyber folks are in DC too but not exclusively. And privacy kind of split between DC and SF.

Zwillgen is a good firm for that type of work, you might look into their internship program. They I think technically have an office in SF.

Just to comment on SV/SF, there's a fair amount of flexibility at most firms regarding which office you're in and they tend to be a commutable distance, especially with the current limited RTO vibe. I'm commuting from the Peninsula to SF 1-2 times per week. Get the job in either one and figure it out from there.uygiugiyugyugk wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 6:59 pmincoming 0l, really interested in data privacy and cybersecurity; regulatory/advising companies especially on matters of ECPA/SCA/law enforcement access.

Also Bay Area requires ties more than other major markets, and your question here makes me wonder if you have any.
