Can you apply to your clients job posting

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Apr 02, 2022 10:48 am

Hi! I’m currently a big law lit mid level and my tech company client just opened a unicorn in house lit position. All my qualifications match up and I’ve done good work for the client so far.

I’m just concerned that when the client sees my application they’ll tell my partner I’m looking to leave (which quite frankly I’m not but would for said unicorn job). I’ve had a couple client facing experiences, but for the most part the partner is client facing and I’ve been doing the work behind the scenes. Is there also a concern that the client won’t want me because they want me to stay on their case at the firm? How would you approach this situation?

Why not reach out to the client directly? It’ll increase your odds.

Also, partners don’t usually mind when their associates go in house with clients. Better chances of keeping the client and billing more work. In fact, the partner might even be a good contact to recommend you for the position.
