Stats/experience required for top trial firms in CA?

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Mar 31, 2022 3:29 pm

My understanding is that Munger and Keker (any others missing?) are among the most respected trial firms in CA. 1. is this correct? 2. what exactly is the floor for these firms in terms of grades? is anything else, like a clerkship, required? Having difficulty getting any hard information on these firms from my T6, since only like one student goes to these firms each year.

I'd go to their respective webpages and look at the associates' credentials. If they've got a lot of managing editors of LR and latin honors, you'll know.

…yes, Munger, HH, Susman LA, Keker, etc. are all exceptionally selective, and care about all of the above.

I always thought it was Munger > Keker >> Susman LA >>> HH when it comes to selectivity. I know a few people at HH and they weren’t people who could’ve landed a spot at Munger.

I'm not sure about this ordering. My guess would have been Susman LA>Keker>>Munger>>>HH. I'm not certain about Susman LA vs. Keker, but both are more selective than Munger SF/LA based on size alone (Munger DC is a different story).

Is my sense (based on their website) correct that Keker seems to be the most flexible in terms of qualifications? I see a few associates without clerkships / LR / latin honors, so I'm confused why everyone here talks about them as so competitive when on paper they don't seem to have any hard requirements for clerkships or GPA.
