Law Firms w Post-3L summer gigs
Hi all,
Am hoping to crowdsource this because the firm pages are a bit hard to figure this out from and I am sure I am missing some.
I am wondering which firms hire folks for post 3L summer associate gigs? I know Susman and Munger hire post 3Ls for a small stint between graduating and clerking. Are there others?
Thanks in advance.

Kellogg, I think. Bartlit has a diversity one IIRC and has hired pre-clerk summers more informally in the past. A lot of these arrangements are ad hoc.

This is great, thank you so much. I suppose i'll just start reaching out to firms and see if they are open to 3L summers. Ty again.

Kellogg definitely does this. Sidley DC had one such summer during my 2L summer there, but I'm not sure how common that is.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 1:03 pmKellogg, I think. As someone who did one, I would 200% recommend, I was able to do more substantive work as a 3L and met new mentors, which has helped clerking, and the financial cushion is very nice. Bar prep was somewhat stressful but let’s be real, if you’re a federal clerk, you’re not going to fail.

The financial cushion seems awesome. Would be nice to have another firm to easily offload to post-clerkship in the event my 2l summer doesn't work to my liking also, but it is really nice to hear that you enjoyed your 3L summer associate gig so much. Thanks for your insight.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 12:00 amAs someone who did one, I would 200% recommend, I was able to do more substantive work as a 3L and met new mentors, which has helped clerking, and the financial cushion is very nice. Not exactly the same thing but I interviewed for a gig with Goodwin that would've been part-time during my second semester 3L year (didn't summer with them so would've been coupled with a full-time offer had I gotten it).
