What is the job market like for patent litigation?
Especially for those with a technical undergrad background. Is it any better than for other law specialties considering that it is typically preferred for you to have a technical background?

Do you mean for laterals or for law students? Regardless, the supply of patent litigators (especially those with tech/science backgrounds) is almost always short because, put simply, there are fewer technically minded people who go to law school. That means there's always outsized demand. If you're halfway decent either as a law student (not in the bottom 20% of a T14, or median/above at some lower ranked or regional firms) you have a shot at most good patent lit groups.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 6:22 amEspecially for those with a technical undergrad background. Any particular info you're interested in? Markets? Technical specialties? Boutiques/general lit firms?

Depends what your bg is. Very roughly speaking, CS/EE >> chem > mech eng > bio. Tech bg matters a lot more for prosecution than lit. It’s still a positive for lit but it alone won’t get you into a top lit job . School, Grades and writing sample (less so) still matter .
