Re: In-House for Litigators
Posted this elsewhere, but I applied to 300 jobs prior to landing an offer. Spanned 3 years, less than 5 first round interviews, and a single offer. Was a commercial lit associate in biglaw. The entire experience sucked.

Re: In-House for Litigators
IP Lit super senior associate here. I may have started applying to in house too late. Got rug pulled on my main client going into the partnership eval process and just started applying to in house jobs in January this year. I've applied to about 10 so far. One first round interview. That's it. I may need to expand my search to include "product counsel" or patent prosecution jobs at some point, but so far I'm only applying to litigation in house positions.
1. 10th year associate
2. IP Lit (mostly patent)
3. Just started applying in January this year.
4. 8?
5. TBD
6. TBD

Re: In-House for Litigators
Friend recently went in-house at Amazon from biglaw.
1. 8th year associate
2. Commercial lit
3. roughly a year
4. at least 50
5. two (many, many rounds of interviews for the 2 positions he interviewed for)
6. Amazon (other interview/offer was with a well known smaller tech company)
7. As I understand it, he makes roughly the same comp now as in biglaw, but he negotiated hard for it.

Re: In-House for Litigators
1. 5th year
2. Real estate and commercial litigation
3. About 1 year
4. Hundreds
5. Two
6. Real estate startup
I'm still in-house but GC at a real estate company now. My litigation experience has been incredibly useful.

Re: In-House for Litigators
I'm an in-house investigations counsel and previously did both general lit and white collar in private practice.
1. 9 years out
2. Internal and government investigations
3. 8 months
4. 30 or so apps, both litigation and investigation roles
5. 6 interviews - 1 rejection, 1 ghost, 1 offer, 3 pending in various states when I took the offer
6. Tech
7. TC is around $325,000. From what I know about my friends who are also in-house, my comp is in the ballpark for what they've been getting, though would be higher if I were in a similar role at several of the FAANGs. But I'm not complaining given the work-life balance I now have compared to my law firm life.
