Reneging on a 1L summer internship Forum

TLDR below,
I accepted a part-time offer last week at a PI firm in my home state. They do great work and I'm really excited but I have no desire to work in my home state after
graduation.

Fast forward to today, I just received an offer for a full-time position for a pretty coveted position. Although unpaid, it would provide great experience and open a
lot of doors. I'm stuck on what to do here. I'm worried about my CSO, which has a well-known policy that once you accept you must withdrawal all other applications but I was under the impression I wouldn't hear back from this group. Unfortunately, I won't be
able to do both this summer.

TLDR: unsure what to do. Accepted offer from home state from PI firm, want to renege to accept coveted unpaid position in area where I want to practice.

Just reneg, it's really not a big deal. It happens all the time, people will understand. Career services tells you not to do it because they don't want employers finding out that they're telling students to reneg, because then the employer would be hesitant to continue recruiting there.

When I was a 2L I landed an unpaid internship outside my desired field and reneged when I got an unpaid internship in my desired field. Then I reneged on that one when I got a paid internship in my desired field. After I got a full-time offer from that 2L summer gig, which was not in Big Law, I reneged on it when I got a Big Law offer during 3L. No one cared, everyone said they understood and wished me luck at the next thing.

I accepted an unpaid position at a state AGs office and then got a 1L SA offer. Reneged on the state AG’s office, the person who interviewed me was a bit disappointed but I never heard about it since and don’t think it had any impact whatsoever on my career.
