Re: Signing Bonuses?
I lateraled and didn't get shit. Maybe they could smell the desperation. Or maybe my law school grades were too shit or something.
I did guarantee full special and EOY bonus for the remainder of the year though (no hour requirement)

Re: Signing Bonuses?
I lateraled very recently to a V10 from a V50. This V10 regularly gives signing bonuses (not K&E). In my interview, I stupidly stated "this firm is my first choice." So they gave me $0 signing bonus. So I interviewed elsewhere and the other firm offered a healthy signing bonus. I told my "first choice" firm about it and they matched the signing bonus.
Conclusions:
-Don't say anything during the interview that will give up leverage you have over the firm; if you are in M&A/PE, they need you more than you need them.
-Definitely interview at multiple firms just for the sake of using them to "bid" on you for the signing bonus. No shame in going back and forth a little bit between the two firms to have them increase their offers.
-Recruiters are good resources for these negotiations because they have a first-hand view of this confidential world of salary negotiations.

How high did you get the V10 to go since they started with $0.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 2:53 amI lateraled very recently to a V10 from a V50.
