Milbank for V5
We need to show the firms that leading compensation changes materially help them. Keep this in mind when making your Vault rankings this year.
Milbank's Rx/White Collar/PF teams are legit. Lets give the Mil(lions of dollars in the)bank firm the recognition it deserves.

They got me a raise this year so they're V5 this year. Next year is another year.

This is the most outlandish over-tread conversation topic, always comes across a little childish, and is also pointless. While I am thankful for Milbank above all other law firms, it's a very junior-associate-mentality to think the big law firms are all fungible otherwise and setting the market scale should correlate to them being considered the best. If I were advising law students to pick a firm for the best career opportunities, or advising a friend to pick a law firm to represent them for certain work, I wouldn't proclaim that Milbank is the best law firm.
These type of threads come up every year, but guess what? A lot of lawyers are serious people and will seriously rate the firms based on the quality of their legal practice. Not what order the firms make the announcement of what pay raise they are giving to the kiddos.
/end rant
But yes, I do love what they are doing for my paycheck!!

You don't have to post anonymously, Chesler. Sorry, but Cravath is just not deserving of V1. It hasn't been for a while. And Milbank is coming for your spot.
Edit: Its spot. You're just sitting there.

Cravath hasn't deserved #1 in a long time. In fact nobody "deserves" a spot. These rankings don't have spiritual meaning. We have the power to reward firms that give us raises, so we will.

Re: Milbank for V5
what the fuck is this. No. Cravath is receiving across the board "1s" for attempted sand-bagging raises and Milbank and DPW "5s". I'm not sure what other metric you are rating a hundred firms you have next to no working relationship with by other than what vault ranking they were last year, but compensation is the least bullshit of metrics to make your decision off.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 4:23 pmAlright I'll be the cranky senior associate here...Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 1:28 pmWe need to show the firms that leading compensation changes materially help them. Think he was pointing out, as he often has, in a funny way, how people use the anon feature for literally nothing posts that cannot conceivably ruin their careers if they were deanonymized. That is, unless the very fact of posting on this website is career ruining.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 4:58 pmAre you disagreeing?
Who needs to post their opinion about vault rankings anonymously?
seconding the post immediately above mine. Cravath doesn't deserve v1 and compensation is one of the most concrete factors we have to rate firms.

There’s no doubt that Wachtell is “prestigious” but I’m always conflicted about how to rank them. That’s because I approach Vault through the lens of self-interest; I’m happy WLRK associates are making 2x market, but it doesn’t do anything for me. Milbank or DPW putting more money in my pocket is worthy of V1/V2 IMO, if doing so will incentivize firms to compete more aggressively on pay.

Honestly somewhat mindblowing to me that anyone takes the time to fill out this dumb survey

This is an objectively correct take and one to which I would be proud to append my name
