Massumi + Consoli?
Anyone know much about this firm? MM PE boutique in LA, founded by two ex-Kirkland guys. Interviewing soon. Haven't seen any discussion searching TLS and there's relatively little on the internet as a whole. Any thoughts/experiences?

Solid shop that provides better WLB (at least compared to big law). But it's a pretty new firm that focuses almost exclusively on PE, so you should go in with your eyes open. Dealing with only PE clients 24/7 can become a real dragmusiccityboer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 5:14 pmAnyone know much about this firm? MM PE boutique in LA, founded by two ex-Kirkland guys. I know a couple of people there (former KE folks). They seem to like it.

Haven't worked there, but have heard less than pleasant things generally. If you are familiar with K&E LA's reputation and culture (worst of all the K&E offices), from what I've heard it is an extension of that culture.
EDIT: Also, if OP is really a boer as stated in OP's username, will put it in terms you can understand: dit is nie lekker nie

Know a few people there, all seem to really like it compared to big law life. Partnership seems genuinely invested in associate satisfaction and comp wise I think they try to get incentives aligned firmwide (so naturally less of a cog-like atmosphere than traditional big law)

I'm of boer extraction, but we haven't been on that side of the Atlantic since before WWI and I don't speak any Afrikaans. Thanks for the advice, though!Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 5:57 pmHaven't worked there, but have heard less than pleasant things generally. I can't say what it's like today, but I looked at this shop a few years back and my recollection was base comp was slightly above biglaw. No idea about bonuses but I'm guessing on par with KE based on being founded by KE guys but that's a complete guess.musiccityboer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 5:23 pmI'm of boer extraction, but we haven't been on that side of the Atlantic since before WWI and I don't speak any Afrikaans. Second the K&E LA offshoot point above. I hear the worklife balance is a tad better but the work environment isn't too far removed from typical K&E culture. This is all secondhand knowledge though—I don't work there myself.
