Re: Recruiter recommendations for Dallas laterals?
Made the move from an NYC firm to Dallas in-house a few years ago.
Pre-COVID, Dallas was hard to break into without connections, and while I tried recruiters, I landed the in-house job because a law school classmate knew someone who had previously worked in Dallas who connected me with a partner at a Dallas firm who knew in-house counsel at one of the companies here whose manager was hiring.
6 degrees of Kevin Bacon and then some.
If you're trying to lateral into a BigLaw firm in Dallas, I'd imagine you'd have much better luck! From what I hear, the Dallas BigLaw market is quite busy and in need of associates. (If you know any associates at the firms you're targeting, I'd work that angle and you might even be able to split the referral bonus!)

First thing I would do is try to tap whatever network you have in the city. Recruiters are most helpful when you don't know anybody at all.

OP -- PM me - I don't always think using a recruiter is the best option, but if you're focused on Dallas, I have an excellent contact.

Anon due to prior posts. I was considering a lateral move to Dallas earlier this year. I worked with Jack Kinney of Kinney recruiting. Highly recommend.

OP here, sorry all, I should have clarified. I am already a BigLaw associate in Dallas and am just considering a lateral move to another firm. Thanks for the suggestions so far.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 2:49 pmAnon due to prior posts. I was considering a lateral move to Dallas earlier this year. If you are already a biglaw associate in Dallas, you probably know a lot of people. I'd start talking to them first. You also probably have specific groups you are interested in going to- do as much research as you can on them.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 3:37 pmOP here, sorry all, I should have clarified.
