Using recruiter and applying myself?

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Oct 29, 2021 1:33 pm

Maybe the answer is obvious and I'm being dumb, but for those who have lateraled, is it common or possible to use both a recruiter for some firms and to apply to other firms yourself (through a contact at the other firms)? Basically, I've sent in my resume through buddies at certain firms but now I think I want to also loop in a recruiter to apply to some other firms. Would a recruiter be ok with this? Since there's a chance I would just go to a firm where I applied through a friend and the recruiter's efforts would go to waste.

Any insight is appreciated, thank you.

I've done this. Recruiters get it. Be 100% clear with the recruiter on what firms you're applying to on your own and tell the recruiter that you want to approve any submission the recruiter makes before it's made.
