What kind of stuff do “General Corporate” associates work on?
I work in a more specialized corporate group and am considering lateraling to get broader experience. Despite working adjacent to our general corporate group on a few things, I still don’t really know what stuff they work on day to day. Looking at old threads, it seems it’s generally understood to be a mix of finance/M&A/cap markets/etc. But what confuses me is that most firms seem to have standalone practice groups that do each of those. What does that leave for the general corporate people?
