Recent Kaplan Hecker & Fink Press
Hi everyone—I’m currently weighing an offer at KHF. I’m really excited about everything about the firm except for recent press coverage and some concerns about the future of the firm. I know people on this forum won’t have more knowledge than me on this, but I’m curious: do you think they’re damaged by this? Would you be worried about going there as a summer associate/young lawyer?

Re: Recent Kaplan Hecker & Fink Press
Speaking as someone who knows the firm decently well from former classmates and colleagues who are there or left recently: I wouldn’t be too concerned about the Cuomo-related press in and of itself, but Kaplan Hecker is known as having a dysfunctional environment. Lots of brilliant lawyers and interesting cases. However, the firm has stumbled with management and expansion, and the recent press intrigue seems consistent with some of the broader criticisms of how the firm has been run.
For what it’s worth, my friends there are great lawyers, so I don’t know that this is enough to dissuade a young lawyer from joining. You’ll still get great experience, and the mismanagement problems are not unique to Kaplan Hecker; many boutiques struggle and have growing pains.

Just want to echo that I have heard the same as the poster above. If you are interested in a boutique and have other offers, I would consider them before considering Kaplan. I have heard Robbie Kaplan herself is a difficult person to work for.

I worked there, it was nightmarish on so many fronts. I'd be happy to speak with you about it further.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 10:38 amJust want to echo that I have heard the same as the poster above. I will add to the chorus of people saying (a) the Cuomo thing isn't gonna be a big deal, but (b) I have heard secondhand that Kaplan is a terrible place to work. Would do my diligence before accepting.

Jumping on this and would love to speak to anyone with experience at KHF. Or to hear what the OP Anon chose to do.

Re: Recent Kaplan Hecker & Fink Press
Anyone have any information on what Hecker Fink is like now that Roberta Kaplan is out? Considering submitting a lateral application as I'm interested in jumping to a boutique, but would appreciate any intel given previous reports about the firm.
