I think you first have to decide which city you want to live in first lol, those firms are not substantially different from one another to make the decision purely based off the work.

Your life is going to be hell at an M&A group in any of these, but I would take K&E Chicago because the cost of living is much lower.

I mean, location, work, and pay are the biggies.
Prestige is not, apart from how it translates into the quality of work and opportunities you'll get.

step 1a if you are truly truly "I dont care" about city, choose chicago because $$
step 2a if NY M&A do skadden if cap markets do Latham if anything else then I don't know.
step 2b if Chicago do KE.
