What firm to pick?

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Aug 19, 2021 12:55 am

I am wondering which of these is the best option for corporate work? All of the offices are NYC. Not planning on going for partner, I want to set myself for the best exit opportunities. I understand S&C is the most prestigious, just wondering about any cultural issues. I have really enjoyed everyone I met at the firm and interviewed with. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

SullCrom is the clear choice for M&A, but not sure if you're interested in other corporate practices. If so, Kirkland may be a good choice if you're interested in an area like funds. Between S&C and K&E, the generalizations as to "culture" on these forums are pretty much identical, so pick your poison (?)

OP here: Thanks for the info! I'm fairly interested in M&A work. I am drawn to financial institutions work which I know S&C is highly regarded for. I really enjoyed all of the S&C people I have met, I have just seen some things on here which give me pause (along with the 2020 Summer issue).

i mean they’re all going to be brutal hours wise. i wouldn’t put much stock into cultural things said on here unless it’s first hand experience - and most people are quick to point out that it still will vary by practice group anyway.

that being said, sounds like you enjoyed meeting with s&c folks the most - go there. they absolutely did fuck their summer class, but i doubt things turn south again
