Reneging Post-Grad Big Law Offer for Federal Clerkship?
Accepted postgrad offer for a V30 in a major market. Obviously, reneging is bad, but is it acceptable if it’s for a clerkship?

Why would you have to renege rather than asking to come back after the clerkship? (Even if you don't want to go back to them after, you can work on that later.)

So then it’s not reneging. It’s doing what any person would do in your situation, which the firm will understand.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 12:56 pmSorry, should have clarified. Yes, I want to go back.

Happens all the time - it’s not reneging. Tell the firm about it and mention that you’d like to join the firm after the clerkship; any good firm (all firms in V30) will be excited about it and will put you on the list for after you’re done.

Never heard of a firm that wouldn't let you defer for a clerkship.
