Lateraling Questions

I am a first-year associate who has recently accepted a lateral offer to a different firm. I accepted the offer about 2 weeks ago, and promptly turned in my diligence forms to begin the conflicts process. Since accepting the offer, I've coasted a bit (I haven't actively sought out new work, but continued working on my current matters). I'm expecting to clear conflicts this week and then immediately provide notice, but now I think my current practice group coordinator has suspected I've slowed down and is asking if I have capacity to work. Last Friday, a partner approached me about a new matter and I told him I had availability. This is sort of weird timing--I don't want to get heavily staffed on matters only to provide my notice at the end of the week. Is there a good way of navigating this situation?

Also, I have a question relating to giving notice generally. My firm's policy book doesn't have a specific policy on resigning, so I literally have no idea how to do it. I was planning to schedule calls with the partners I work with the most to let them know of my departure. But as for protocol for leaving--how do I do that? I plan on typing up a letter, but I don't really know to whom I should send it. Any advice on how to best do this so that I can transition as smoothly as possible is greatly appreciated.

Don't worry about starting on new matters. The partners will figure out how to handle things; two weeks gives them plenty of time. Schedule calls with the partners you work with and then tell the practice group coordinator, who will instruct you on what to do for the resignation letter.
