Risk of lateraling right now
Given the economic uncertainty, do you think lawyers (especially foreign trained lawyers) that lateral to a law firm right now will be let go if the market goes south? A lot of friends saying its the wrong move to make even if the money is better.

Why would non-laterals be safe? There'sa list of attorneys that have been there for years they are planning to can when they can.

Lawyers are always at risk of being let go if the work dries up. Being a recent lateral won't hurt you much, unless things collapse before you have any time to develop relationships at the new firm.
