Concern with multiple callbacks?

Hi everybody,

I’m mentoring a recent grad whose had some callbacks for a firm within the past month.

She just had one this week - and while they like her, they just told her they had to “reassess hiring for the upcoming fall”. Now keep in mind she actually met with another group in person already and they like her, but she ended up taking another 2L SA. They’re having her do a CB with a 3rd practice group, and while she needs a job, I’m a little miffed they would have her do a callback over multiple days without knowing RE: their hiring needs. Am I wrong for being doubtful and thinking she may not have a chance?

Why would they waste time doing a callback with someone who doesn't have a chance?
