Kline and Specter

Post by smiler » Tue Jul 13, 2021 2:14 pm

Hello,
Does anyone have a sense of what the compensation structure is like for the MD/JDs at Kline and Specter in Philadelphia? They claim to have more MD/JDs on staff than any other firm in country. Since they typically don't go to the firm straight out of law school or even lateral from another firm, are they placed on a partnership track.

Additionally, for the non-physicians, does anyone know where associates start at in terms of compensation?

I don't think anyone is going to be able to give you an answer. The firm has like 40 lawyers and this board is basically all biglaw. Further, you have to have some indication of trial chops to get in.

But I did interview there a few years back. The information I got was that 1) comp is comparable to biglaw and no one leaves due to comp, and 2) it's all a black box based on whether Tom/Shanin values you. There are no true partners and every case is Tom/Shanin's case if they choose to jump in.

Hope this helps.

I took a class with Shanin. Cool dude. Told stories about eating a fuck ton of bologna sandwhiches on white bread at his clients homes. Not helpful, I know, but seeing this bumped reminded me.
