Nothing from Gibson DC and Williams and Connolly as well. (Heard from Kirkland, Jones day, McDermott, S&C). Vinson ding. Also silence from Covington and PW DC but feel like they are a no at this point.

Did Gibson DC just interview with Georgetown for lolz or has anyone gotten a CB? I know their NYC office pulled out of OCI.

Lol that’s malpractice if OCS really told y’all that. I did predominantly DC OCI in 2019 and many firms filled out huge chunks of their offices entirely with pre-OCI candidates. I think it was almost pointless to bid Skadden DC my year cause they filled so many spots pre-OCI.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 4:33 pmOCS was insistent that pre-OCI was not a big thing in dc and would not affect what jobs were available at OCI. I know a ton of people with multiple dc offers pre-oci (including firms OCS said didn't) while it seems to be very slow at OCI. I can't help but think they were totally wrong and the smaller classes are largely full.

I feel like an idiot for trusting OCS. I'm top ~15%, maxed out my screener interviews, and I have zero callbacks. At this point I'm assuming OCI is a loss and I'm sending applications to anyplace that I can find.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 11:34 pmLol that’s malpractice if OCS really told y’all that. Re: GULC OCI 2021
I also did OCI in 2019 at GULC and can confirm that pre-OCI was definitely A Thing in DC. I knew several people with pre-OCI offers. At this point OCS is basically a malpractice machine. I have huge issues with how they handle warning students about the DC market, i.e., they don’t really warn students at all. Every year DC is a blood bath but every year so many students put all their eggs in the DC basket (that’s not directed at you personally since idk what you did). OCS has to be more forceful about the risks of DC or bust bidding. Anyway, I’m really sorry, and I’m sending good vibes that you hear about CBs soon! Remember that everything truly will be ok.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 12:13 amI feel like an idiot for trusting OCS. FWIW every OCS advisor I spoke with pushed for applying pre-OCI so sorry you dealt with someone on their staff that did not get the memo.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 12:13 amI feel like an idiot for trusting OCS. That was my experience too. They also warned me about the competitiveness of the DC market. I'm starting to appreciate my section's advisor more.

They definitely seem to have pushed it more than they did last cycle. I think they need to be more aggressive though. If you're lit focused you need to be going hard on pre-OCI from the minute grades come back.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 7:45 amFWIW every OCS advisor I spoke with pushed for applying pre-OCI so sorry you dealt with someone on their staff that did not get the memo.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 12:13 amI feel like an idiot for trusting OCS. Sort of related but anyone get peeved when a firm that chooses to interview you ghosts? Like if it's through OCI whatever I get it you might not have wanted to talk to me, you don't owe me anything. But if I apply directly and you ask me to interview, it would be polite to at least respond to my inquiries about status.
Looking at you, Latham DC. I'll remember this when I vote for Vault rankings like the petty shit I am.

Re: GULC OCI 2021
Anon who originally mentioned OCS here. To be fair, my OCS advisor absolutely said to do pre-OCI generally, but indicated that it was really only necessary or helpful in New York. I ignored her and got pre-oci offers in DC, so it's no skin off my back, but it also absolutely sucks for those who fairly trusted OCS. The reality is that most students in June aren't thinking about how high levels of pre-oci + small classes = few spots at OCI, even if they know DC is harder. I really think OCS needs to be frank about this specific dynamic in DC.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:24 amThey definitely seem to have pushed it more than they did last cycle. 3 offers pre-OCI and absolute jack shit from OCI itself so far. Happy to have offers, but I think OCI is moving to just a cleanup for firms to fill spots they still need. Would love to see the # of offers through OCI over the last few years, maybe I'm wrong.

Re: GULC OCI 2021
Firms will still do OCI for top schools - they will not want to miss out on having the opportunity to easily interview bunch of students from HYS for example.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 9:25 pm3 offers pre-OCI and absolute jack shit from OCI itself so far. But for schools further down the rankings, firms are shifting towards Pre-OCI so they don't have to spend as much time doing the entire OCI process. Firms like Orrick have already started decreasing OCI spots at some schools in T-14.
