Davis Polk face time req & perks?
Can anyone provide some insight into DPW's face time expectations and what perks are like?
By face time I mean if it's going to be a long night (i.e. most of time) or you're waiting for something to come through, can you leave at 6-7 and work from home?
Perks, a lot of firms list on their website (barprep fees, subsidized gym/food, vaca days, broker fees, moving fees, etc.)
Thank you!!

I don’t work there but pre pandemic it was notoriously one of the most FaceTime heavy firms in NYC. TBD whether that has changed; expect not.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 7:45 pmCan anyone provide some insight into DPW's face time expectations and what perks are like?

They have secretaries take attendance and log the information.

They've said they will be going to some form of hybrid model somewhat dependent on practice group... also some groups are good about leaving at a more normal time and continuing from home...

Thanks. I know Skadden is doing permanent 2 days a week remote if the attorney wants. Not looking for that drastic but I’ve had biglaw attorneys advocate finding a place that can let you continue from homeAnonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 9:35 pmThey've said they will be going to some form of hybrid model somewhat dependent on practice group... also some groups are good about leaving at a more normal time and continuing from home...
I’d be working in corporate, but which group exactly obviously don’t know yet

I think COVID has changed things and expect something similar. They do like there being a social in person aspect so that people have a good relationship aside from work and honestly it works... I've worked at places that were very "work from home" friendly and I thought it was awesome until I realized that along with that came a generally unfriendly and cold work environment and that could not be further from the truth at DPW... its a world of a difference... when you're friends with the people you work with you do not have the same stress and pressure and you can feel more comfortable being honest when you're overwhelmed or unable to complete a task in the expected time frame. Along with that comes the confidence needed to do your work to the highest degree. Do you want to excel in your field? Put yourself in the place that will allow you to do this best, regardless of whether you have to go to the office or not.

Sorry - I meant for this to be in response to what Skadden is doing - I expect DPW to have a similar policy but they seemingly will allow for individual groups to somewhat dictate how they'd like to handle...Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 10:12 pmI think COVID has changed things and expect something similar. Thanks! I agree completely. I worked before law school and much preferred to be in office.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 10:12 pmI think COVID has changed things and expect something similar. My thoughts at this point are my fiancé will be living with me and I’d like to do what I can to be around for her. The option to work remotely (6,7,or 8pm) a couple nights instead of being in the office so we could at least be home together or eat together would be nice. Just trying to find ways to alleviate the fact that I’ll be working basically all the time, especially during the week

How far is your commute? I think this is very doable in general. Not to say there won't be exceptions but I believe this will be a somewhat normal occurrence given that people's eyes are open to this. A lot of people have been enjoying getting to see their family on a more regular basis and I expect this will be a lot more common even at firms that are looking to continue with a strong facetime element. Just speculation based on associate feedback...Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 10:20 pmThanks! I agree completely. I'd like to live on the east side somewhere or Astoria. Just based on where DP's offices areAnonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 10:30 pmHow far is your commute?
