Best Practices for Traveling as a SA?
Our firm is bringing us in to see the office. We have a general handbook with instructions on travel and what we can reimburse. What’s too far with reimbursements? For example, it says the day of travel we can get a $50 dinner. Should I be cautious about using it?

You are getting paid almost 4K a week ( assuming cravats scale big law). Nobody will care about a $50 fajita and margarita

You should buy me a $50 dinner. Biglaw firms love that.

This reminds me of when my old V5 firm sent me to suburban Phoenix for a week to conduct due diligence on boxes of old files the client couldn't be bothered scanning. Every night I got the ultimate feast at Red Lobster, chocolate cake and a large margarita. I still had enough of the budget left to tip 40%. I miss those days.
And, yeah, I spent the entire budget every night, and on many other occasions, and no one ever mentioned it to me. The only thing my firm didn't like was when you bought things that didn't look like dinner. For example, one associate submitted a receipt for 7 boiled eggs and a large bottle of Mountain Dew and they rejected the receipt because he was "grocery shopping."

All about them biscuits. Love when people are elitist about other's dining choices. Going ham at a red lobster sounds fun.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 3:03 amRed Lobster, really?AntipodeanPhil wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 12:06 amThis reminds me of when my old V5 firm sent me to suburban Phoenix for a week to conduct due diligence on boxes of old files the client couldn't be bothered scanning. See also: suburban Phoenix.
(There is some spectacular food in Arizona but what's close to you is always key.)

I love Red Lobster. The biscuits are fantastic, and the seafood is perfectly fine too. It's no Olive Garden, but what is?

I can only dream of eating at the Olive Garden in Times Square once before I depart this blessed rock.Pennoyer v. Meh wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 1:20 pmI love Red Lobster. The biscuits are fantastic, and the seafood is perfectly fine too. It's no Olive Garden, but what is?

Shouldn't be a big deal going over it either, as long as you only request $50 of it reimbursed? I've gotten a few $55/60 meals where I denote that I'm not asking for anything over $50 and they've never cared.bwh8813 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 9:25 pmNo. Be cautious about going over it.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 6:58 pmOur firm is bringing us in to see the office.
