V10 non-mandatory return to office how non-mandatory is it?

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:27 am

Just wanted to hear people's thoughts about this "non-mandatory" return.

I work at a V10 and have been enjoying WFH, and ever since hearing our return to the office is "non-mandatory" from a town hall, I pretty much assumed I'll be WFH as a default unless a senior asks me to join a call in her/his office tomorrow or if there is a particular reason I need to be in the office.

But starting last week I've heard a few people (associates, no partners yet) saying "are you excited about going back to the office" "we should do xxx after we return to the office" ...and I was thinking...wait is this really non-mandatory? Are we in fact expected to return?

I'm a junior associate so I'm unsure about my judgments. Would love to hear how people would interpret this whether you're at my firm or not.

What V10? I need to apply. Honestly, who cares. Most people only stick our biglaw long enough for things like this not to matter. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Take care of yourself and your needs and slide by
