bringing personal computer to office
might be a silly question, but is bringing your personal computer to your firm frowned on, particularly if you have your own office?

Re: bringing personal computer to office
What would you use it for? I’d imagine you wouldn’t be able to do work on it without either remoting in to your office network (like if you logged in from home), or getting everything your firm uses loaded onto it and connecting it to the firm network (if they’d even do that), like your work computer, so I’m not sure why you wouldn’t just use your work computer. There are usually issues with documents being on the network so they can be backed up and accessible to all, as well as confidentiality concerns. But where I work may be more concerned about these things, I could be wrong.

Echoing that it largely depends on the reason, and there aren't many good ones.
I sometimes saw people with tablets/laptops on their desk which would have like a sports game going on quietly in the background as they worked, but to do any actual work on it seems hard to justify.

I bring my personal computer sometimes if I think I’ll have a slow day. I’ll online shop, check my stock portfolio, watch a sports game.. idk anything non-work related.

Oh, that makes sense. I just use my phone for this stuff and am so used to doing so that it wouldn't occur to me to bring my laptop (also I'm too lazy).blair.waldorf wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 10:21 pmI bring my personal computer sometimes if I think I’ll have a slow day. Meh, I apply and email all the time on my work computer. Literally no one checks and no one cares. The only thing I don't do is porn.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 8:46 amYeah I literally job hunt on my work computer, everything short of the actual applications/emails with recruiters.cheaptilts wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 11:17 pmI do all of this on my work computer.
