Opting into P/F Affecting Lateraling?

Post by Apsquatter123 » Sun Apr 11, 2021 12:45 pm

Hey all. I'm a 2L/rising 3L at a T6 - this semester I have the option to P/F a few of my classes due to Covid circumstances I am facing at home. I have an RA position and 3 other classes. One of them is a 4 cred seminar that I won't be P/F ing but I'm taking two other doctrinal classes that are tough and I really want to P/F them.

I have an SA lined up but I worry that if one day down the road I want to lateral to a different firm they'll look at my transcript and be concerned that I have multiple P/Fs (I'd have my two allocated ones for 3L year and 2 from this semester so 4 classes total in 2L/3L yr, plus 1L spring which all students have). I know some firms like Latham/Gibson care about grades so do firms care about this or will they only care about GPA?

Any advice/insight would be so appreciated :)

I think it’ll look weird since you’re picking and choosing which classes you’re doing P/F, but I don’t think firms will really care that much.
