I am a grad of t14 with below median grades but I got a job in big 4 doing tax. What odds do I have at big law with decent grades out of NYU/GU tax llm; or will I be stuck in big 4. Also is there a decent chance of even getting in those programs
Does it matter if I do the "executive LLM" program or the regular for purposes of employment/recruiting. (am I shooting myself in the foot as far as employment chances by not doing the full time program.

Because you have Big 4 tax experience, you should be a strong candidate for admission to both tax programs.

You will almost definitely get in the program.
You have at least 50% chance (assuming by below 50% you don't mean bottom 33% and that you don't have big red flags like Cs in JD) of getting Biglaw, maybe better, I am not sure.

I think OP has a better chance than 50% (also not really sure where you get that number from). The 2020 class of NYU had close to a 40% big law placement, and a majority of those students did not go to a T14. Of course, if OP is only open to general tax in NYC, then the chance will be smaller, but if open to Executive Comp and other markets I think big law would be a likely outcome.notinbiglaw wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 9:44 pmYou will almost definitely get in the program.

I think you should be pretty much auto admit as far as getting in. If it were me, I'd do the executive program at NYU and keep your big4 job. That keeps debt down and I think continuing to work only helps grow your tax skills.
