Quick question about workplace etiquette

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Mar 23, 2021 5:03 pm

Before I came to law school, I used to work where people generally acknowledged the other person's presence and said hi or smiled in the hallway even if you were that close. At law school, I've seen classmates deliberately look the other way at the hallway when we've done projects and had seminar discussions together. It's probably just awkwardness but I am a bit baffled if this is the norm at law firms as well. I don't want to come off as being rude or officious. What is the right thing to do at law firms? I do come from a small town and maybe this is something I have work on. Thanks a bunch.

You smile and walk by. Unless you know the person. Then you say hi and walk by.
