Ethics Question for Resume

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Mar 05, 2021 1:11 pm

I recently offered to volunteer at a public interest organization doing administrative tasks. I will work for them on a case-by-case basis. I filled out the forms to volunteer for them, but I have not done anything yet, although I’m quite sure I will eventually. Is it ok to put this on my resume?

I wouldn't put this until you actually do something. Volunteering can show dedication and good experience, but you have to get the experience before it's worth anything. And frankly it’s different from putting an upcoming job or clerkship on your resume, because those entail competition to get that volunteering doesn’t.

put something general about interest or passion for X cause, then be ready to talk about how in high school you did XYZ and now you've signed up to do this thing.
