If you are genuinely interested in multijurisdictional matters and in working abroad, should be one of your top choices. If you are primarily interested in domestic matters, however, it is second to many.

If you're going to the NY or DC offices, expect to be treated as a satellite office. You run with whatever London throws you on London timelines. No one cares about US holidays (though they try to pretend more on Thanksgiving) so expect to be on calls, turning deliverables on Labor Day weekend, etc. They do definitely respect vacation time and the August and Christmas lulls where Europe basically shuts down. As noted, it is great for multijurisdictional work and staffing is lean so you get more responsibility and exposure earlier on. That can be a downside though since it's often trial by fire. As with other firms, this also varies by group. Finance can be brutal and has a terrible reputation but corporate, litigation, and funds are all pretty well liked by associates.

Could you elaborate more on the practice groups?? What makes finance so bad compared to others? Does it include projects and capital markets? Thanks!
