Lateral Offer Timeline During Covid?
A week ago, I had a really great 6-hour lateral callback with a V10 Firm in a major market. I met everyone in the practice group and the global department head. I haven't heard back from the firm yet. I'm wondering if anyone has any insights on the offer timeline during COVID? I have a few friends that received offers within the same or next day.
A lot of the older posts in this forum on this subject are from the pre-covid days, and would like to see if there have been any changes to timelines due to covid. Thanks!

Most of my covid offers came the next day. But I know people who have waited weeks.

Eight business days between CB and verbal offer.

My turnaround from last interview to offer was three business days, five days if you count the weekend. I was interviewing with several other firms and told them I was under the gun now with an offer, but none of them made me a competing offer, so I took the available one. Literally all of the firms I interviewed with subsequently contacted me to see if I was still interested, one of them twice. Talking with biglaw friends I get the sense that some firms realize this is a dynamic and act quickly.

Don't mean to hijack but I have a semi-related question for OP or anyone else who sees this. How are screeners being handled now? When I lateraled in the past, it was maybe a 30 min call with a partner then you'd move to a CB. But I have a two hour screener next week with four partners, including head of the group and the firm's hiring partner. Is that normal or is this more of a CB-type interview?

That's a CB. When I lateraled a few years ago, more often than not I'd begin with 3-4 interviews than with a screener. But usually there will be multiple rounds unless the group is so small that you'll meet with everyone the first time.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 12:38 pmDon't mean to hijack but I have a semi-related question for OP or anyone else who sees this. I received a verbal offer two days after my first round of interviews. They knew I had another offer and that may have affected their urgency.

Thanks for the quick response. That was my assumption as well. I imagine there would probably be another round because the group is fairly large, but the people on the schedule next week are the ones I would be working with the most based on practice.
