Deciding between four firms all in DC. Thoughts? Forum

Hi,

I'm deciding offers at BakerHostetler, Quinn Emanuel, Dentons, and King & Spalding. All located in their DC offices. I'm interested in litigation and the opportunity to work in emerging practice areas (which tends to push me towards Quinn), but I am also concerned about the work/life balance (to the extent that there is one in Big Law) and exit opportunities. Looking further down the line I am also interested in my ability to transfer to a different office within the same firm if the need arises. Any thoughts?

Quinn is by far the best of those firms.

Yeah, Quinn has by far the best reputation of these firms, including in DC. It has kinda of an off putting culture, but it’s a better place to start a litigation career from, even if you need to lateral because it turns out to not be a good fit.

Quinn is the best as others have said, but K&S would be defensible decision if you either can't stand Quinn's culture or are considering trying to get to Atlanta after a short time in DC. I would eliminate the other two options.

I'm going to say K&S DC is definitely up there with Quinn, especially if you're interested in government work. But for pure trial experience, Quinn is the answer. As others have said, look into Quinn culture and see if it's right for you.
