Trying to choose between firms, appreciate any advice. In particular, looking at their IP practices.

Mayer Brown (NY) - mix of lit + transactions
Foley & Lardner (DC) - prosecution
Eversheds Sutherland (Atlanta) - mix of everything, but mostly pros

Any insight on these firms, cultures, and their IP practices? Which firm would be best to choose?

Foley's patent prosecution practice is strong in DC. It takes a large chunk of the office so it will definitely feel like you're part of a substantial practice and not just like one of a few random IP people. I also imagine you will not have any worries about finding work with the number of busy partners who do prosecution. FWIW, the office has to be one of the best office locations in DC (sitting on top of the Potomac with a view of the Kennedy Center). I would say people are friendly to one another but its not overly social. There are events people attend every so often and partners and associates will congregate for lunch in the very nice cafe, but there are a lot of closed doors.

Do you have a location preference post-grad? Either way, if you're interested in prosecution, I'd go with Foley. If you're undecided between prosecution and lit (and perhaps transactions), I'd go with Mayer Brown.
