Skadden, Simpson, or Weil for NY litigation?
I'm choosing between summer offers for Skadden, Simpson Thacher, and Weil (all for their NY offices). I'm leaning towards Skadden because they have the strongest litigation practice, but I'm worried about the horror stories about its culture. I would appreciate any and all opinions

Heard Simpson's lit practice is shrinking. I'd pick Weil or Skadden.

Havent heard anything about Simpson shrinking noted above so I'd look into that to substantiate it if you are interested in them before writing them off. Non NY Skadden people told me the NY office has a culture of working till 8-10 then going out for drinks, then back in by 10am next day. Some people might love that others might hate it. It seems unsustainable to me so i'm not sure how true it is. I would guess plenty of people skip out on that too ( it cant be 700 attys staying late and showing up to a bar each night right?) If Skadden is best lit go with them and try it out.

Echoing that I've also heard toxic things about Skadden. If you don't want to risk it, go with Weil over STB.

None of these firms are lit-focused, that said considering Skadden’s culture and STB’s emphasis on corp, I would choose Weil.

I'm a junior litigation associate at Skadden (non-NY office). The culture rumors are not true, at least in my office/in my experience. I worked at another V-10 firm before law school and the culture at Skadden is much better in my opinion.
