Split just to split?

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:35 pm

I was a 1L summer at a V10 firm (not saying the firm because there are very few 1L summers), and received several offers from other V10 firms. To be honest, I'm kind of thinking that I like the firm I did my 1L summer at the best. Does it make sense to spend most of the summer at a different firm, and then do a touchback at my 1L firm, even though right now I feel like I'm probably just going to choose my 1L firm full time?

That's what I would do as long as you're guaranteed the offer at the 1L firm. You never know, you might like the other one more, or there might be some weird issue with practice group assignment, etc., where having another offer would be very useful.

Worst case, you make some good connections at another firm that may come in handy down the road. It's a smaller world than you think and people tend to reappear one way or another.

Thank you, I appreciate the advice!
