I met with the partner of the practice group I will be lateraling to over the phone. It was about ~20 minutes. He later invited me to a Zoom call scheduled to take place between me, him, and another partner within the group. The other partner did not show up, and the partner I initially spoke to over the phone asked some very basic questions and that was that. Maybe lasted 15 minutes. This was two weeks ago and I haven't heard anything yet, although the partner told me at the end of the Zoom interview that I am in good shape and he will talk to other partners.
Do you think this was the last interview? Anyone else have any similar experiences during COVID where a quick Zoom meeting resulted in an offer and took the place of the more traditional "callback" interview style?

What kind of firm is this?
I’ve never interviewed with a large firm where I only met with 1 partner before getting an offer. Usually (during COVID) it’s 2 partners for a screener, 2 more for the second round, and an associate or HR if I’m going to get an offer.

"mid law" firm in a secondary market. About 40 attorneys. The partner told me I'm their number one candidate, for what it's worth. The head of the practice group will be retiring this year, and it seems that the partner who interviewed me will be new the head after he retires. The retiring partner was the one who was supposed to meet with via Zoom as well but had an emergency matter come up.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 9:29 pmWhat kind of firm is this?
