Ropes v McDermott v Katten, all Chicago
Any advice, pretty open to anything. Just kind of blindly applied and didn't really expect to get offers!

Different choices here, but can't really go wrong.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 12:49 pmAny advice, pretty open to anything. Just kind of blindly applied and didn't really expect to get offers!
McDermott is a healthcare firm -- if you want to do healthcare transactional work, they're a great pick. They're trying to build up some regular-way PE and bankruptcy work, they're making a bit of progress but still some ways to go. Great people.
Katten has a good midmarket transactional practice and they're extremely strong if you want to do commercial lending. From the outside looking in they've always been great counterparties to work with so hopefully their internal culture is good too.
Don't know Ropes Chicago that well, done tons of work opposite Ropes NY and Boston but can't say I've seen their Chicago office on a deal. If you want to do PE work or bankruptcy, probably go with these office as they're trying to build up a Chicago presence in both.
