Is it acceptable to renege on an accepted SA offer because of family plans & location issues?

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Jan 24, 2021 3:40 am

So I accepted a summer associate offer, but is it acceptable to renege to go to a different market to be with my fiance? Since 2L SA will probably be my job after graduation, I might as well do my SA in that market instead of trying to switch as a 3L or lateraling even later.

Is reneging just reneging no matter what the reason is? Will it burn bridges just the same as leaving for money or prestige?

If I keep my first summer SA and plan on not returning to this firm after graduation, when should I start searching for 3L jobs and how would I do that?
