WLRK Hours?

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Jan 22, 2021 10:56 pm

Does anyone have hard evidence that WLRK hours are that much worse than peer firms? Not just whispers and rumors.

Have you ever talked to a Wachtell associate about their work hours?

Not sure where you got the idea that the schedule was "whispers and rumors." There's a reason they have an in-house meal service and pay insane bonuses.

I believe there was a story a while back glow someone who didn't work at WLRK but was there for an all-day meeting. At lunchtime, a butler went around asking people what they wanted. The person was confused but eventually realized that people were just saying whatever they wanted, and the service folks would either cook it or send out for it.

If that was a true story, that's some next level shit.

It also makes me sympathize with those who want to eat the rich.

Have a friend who worked there for years. If you order takeout at night they plate it and put on a tray and bring it to you in your office. Can't miss out on the 10 minutes it'd take you to go down the elevators and grab it yourself and fiddle around with a carton

Anon because I'm considering applying. I'm also curious. Can anyone comment on this?

CSM/S&C/PW lit prolly works close to WLRK tbh - with lit it's completely dependent on the nature of the matter and your life will depend entirely on the partner. Also gotta factor in your personal goals - some associates gun their ass of at all the top lit biglaw firms.

I've got some hard numbers for ya as a former litigation paralegal, so extrapolate from that what you will. On average I had 2200 billable hours and 2600 total hours.

I have three friends who work/worked there in litigation, one for one, one for two years, one for more than two, and for each one in every single year they billed >3k. My one friend who did corporate first year did 3600. But they are all really amazingly hard and passionate workers, it would not surprise me if they were near the top end. It does freak me out that I haven't heard of a single sub-3000 year there though!
