Barack Ferrazzano/Goldberg Kohn (Chicago)
Can anyone speak to the quality of life at either of these firms? I'm interested in lateraling from one of Skadden, Latham, Kirkland, and Sidley (all Chi). I enjoy the work, but I really just need the hours to calm down a bit. I'd take 30% less pay for 20% less hours.

I have no idea about Goldberg Kohn, but I interviewed with Barack Ferrazzano a couple years ago and I remember the salary actually being very close to market (I think the recruiter said that it starts getting compressed around 4th year).
The attorneys are busy (bill around 1900-2000) but they seem to get their weekends. Based on what I heard during my interview, I would not consider it some lifestyle alternative to biglaw.

Awesome, thanks for the info. This confirms my suspicions. currently bill 2400-2500, so 2000 sounds really good right now.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 1:22 amI have no idea about Goldberg Kohn, but I interviewed with Barack Ferrazzano a couple years ago and I remember the salary actually being very close to market (I think the recruiter said that it starts getting compressed around 4th year).

I know an ex-Goldberg Kohn litigator. It sounded like he did interesting stuff, generally liked the people, and didn’t get worked to death. He liked it more than the other Chicago firm he worked at (Kirkland/Sidley/Jenner). He stayed for quite a while until he left biglaw entirely.
