They're recognized leaders in transportation and space transactions, and their partners have worked on some of the most significant securitizations and financings involving aircraft and railcars, and have won many “Deal of the Year” awards from industry publications including Global Transport Finance and Airfinance Journal.

They deliver on deals that present first-time challenges and require unique insight in the aviation, shipping and container, rail, and space and satellite industries. They advise clients representing an international array of investment banks, manufacturers, export agencies, borrowers, lenders, lessors, lessees, equity participants, hedge funds and other investors.

@OP: in all seriousness, that’s really just a marketing thing. Milbank, as far as I know, is a good firm for project finance and transactional work. They probably worked on a few deals relayed to aviation and decided to market that out to look like a practice area.

As an analogy. If I’m an IP litigator and I handle a matter or two related to video game IP, I could market myself out as a video game lawyer. But that wouldn’t actually make me one because there’s no such substantive legal field of “video games.”

I work in transport finance and I've worked across and with Milbank's transport team on a lot of deals. They are no joke and hardly a "marketing" thing. They do A LOT of financing and securitizations for aircraft leasing companies in the US/Ireland/London.

I like the practice personally...its more aviation than space though...very niche.

I stand corrected and will step aside since I clearly typed without knowing what I thought I did.

My friend was an SA at Milbank, and they did a trip to the moon. Pretty cool. Don't think they served alcohol, though, so the summers were kind of bummed.

I think their DC office has some partners that specialize in satellites. I don't know what that means, but just an FYI.

Anon because I work there. The above is correct.

Alumni of the group have gone to other firms in the industry, general finance groups at other law firms, rating agencies, fintech companies, etc..
