Employers Using New Tech to Appeal to Attorneys

Post by tlsadmin3 » Thu Dec 17, 2020 5:12 pm

The shift to remote working has directly impacted legal services and how the law is practiced in the modern economy. Attorneys are now relying on technology to assist them with the execution of their services more than ever before. Accordingly, some legal marketplaces that hire attorneys for their platforms are using new technologies to appeal to potential hires. If you are an attorney practicing remotely, what technology would you find most useful in your practice? Would the promise of new technological advantages make a certain platform or employer more preferrable to another?

WFH/Good Culture + Tech + Reasonable Compensation (i.e. okay to deviate from top of market) would be appealing for sure. I'd be looking for a budget to set up a permanent home office (e.g., desk, chair, lamp, a few resource books, desktop, two monitors, speakers, keyboard, mouse, and a printer/scanner/copier).

Any tech that meaningfully fills in for the roles of paralegal or litigation support (docketing, formatting, citecheck, etc) is a plus. But only to the extent that good or bad paralegal or litigation support would impact a decision to join a firm. Personally, it's a factor.
