Probably more efficient if you do the googling yourself

Why are you assuming they aren’t doing their own research? What a dumb, unnecessary comment.

Re: Who is hiring right now?
It'll be difficult to get your foot in the door as a recent grad with nothing else on your resume. But with your credentials, you'd be a good candidate for a clerkship. I'd throw your hat in the ring for magistrate and district court clerkships (there are still some hiring for 2021), and in the meantime look for a short-term fellowship or something. And reach out to your career office.
But I'm curious...as an upper T14 grad with LR/honors, it's concerning that you're completely empty-handed after graduation. Did you do a SA as a 2L? Did you try your hand at 3L OCI? How are your interview skills? Have you had someone look over your resume?

I know the words weren't used but maybe?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 1:24 pmIt'll be difficult to get your foot in the door as a recent grad with nothing else on your resume. Re: Who is hiring right now?
This is anecdotal and I was pretty much only looking in TX, but a couple weeks ago I was told by a recruiter friend that no firm is hiring "brand new lawyers," meaning those with no experience, right now. This seems to be true, at least judging by what I'm seeing on job boards, where all of the posts ask for at least two years' experience and seem to actually mean it. If you've got a job right now and are just looking to leave, it may be best to just sit tight and keep collecting checks.
The advice further up recommending a clerkship is good advice if you actually are empty-handed; it's good you're geographically flexible if you're looking for a 2021 start right now, since a lot of those positions in "cool" cities are filled a year in advance.
Bankruptcy clerkships seem to have a shorter hiring timeline than district court clerkships, meaning that they often look for someone a few months in advance rather than years, so looking into those (if you're at all interested in bankruptcy) may be a good idea as well.

Not discounting your anecdote at all - but the keyword here is job boards. And that varies by the ones you're looking at.theswisswereright wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 4:40 pmThis is anecdotal and I was pretty much only looking in TX, but a couple weeks ago I was told by a recruiter friend that no firm is hiring "brand new lawyers," meaning those with no experience, right now. I know for a fact that at my T6 I graduated from - 4 firms have posted for 2020 grads within the past 2 months (3 within the past 21 days), and that they have indeed interviewed people quite quickly. No - they aren't v10 firms, but 3/4 are Vault ranked and are great roles (especially in current times).
OP with those credentials should network. If he's socially competent and willing to move, he's got a decent shot.

Re: Who is hiring right now?
I hear that, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with OP seeing what's out there, but just wanted to share what I was told and was seeing personally in one market. It's definitely not an absolute truth. I think I'm probably too cautious most of the time about job changes, anyway.Hi-So - ArshavinFan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 10:35 pmNot discounting your anecdote at all - but the keyword here is job boards. Re: Who is hiring right now?
it depends how much are you are ok with govt assistance (EBT, etc) I know lots of people who have masters degrees or above who are on such due to their fully licensed jobs not paying enough to reasonably care for a family. The secret if so if to not be lower middle class. That with a dependent and student loans.......you will die...........but be below poverty level(x2) and you can get IBR plus free rent and food and medical.
If you go low income, go low enough is all.
