Compensation at FAANGM?
I've seen mixed things on various threads, but trying to get a sense of comp levels and structure at FAANGM companies for a midlevel.
I've heard FB and Google are pretty generous, and Amazon has similar comp levels, but more heavily skewed toward equity. How much lower are the salaries at Amazon? Sub $200k?
I haven't seen much in terms of comp on here beyond those 3 companies, but my understanding is that for a midlevel, most FAANGM will have total comp in the $250-300k range.

I'm no expert on this, but for many Amazon employees, salaries cap out at 165k and any increases generally come from equity. The vesting schedule can also be pretty draconic. I've heard 5/15/40/40 in terms of Y1-Y4. There might be some cash bonus component to make you whole for the first couple years though when very little equity vests. Obviously, it's still Amazon so culture can be brutal and perks are underwhelming, etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if all-in, Amazon is commensurate with or higher than F and G.

I'd be curious as to what Apple and Netflix play. They're probably the only two I'd ever consider working for of the FAANG companies.

I believe entry level for G (min. 3 years prior exp.) starts at around ~325K/yr all in: ~220k base + 20% bonus + 65K RSUs.

It is a pretty common thing in corporate America for base to become a smaller and smaller portion of your total comp as you get more senior. At my company, an administrative assistant might have a target bonus of 5% and equity of 5%, a director might have target bonus of 25% and 25% equity, while someone in the C-suite would be 70-80% variable comp.BrainsyK wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 1:10 pmI'm no expert on this, but for many Amazon employees, salaries cap out at 165k and any increases generally come from equity. ^^Most roles above director at my pre-law school company (non-banking/non-tech) typically had bonuses of 150-200% of base.
Obviously we were on the extreme end of things, but worth adding as a data point for how much of a role variable comp can play at that level in some orgs.

From the people I know who have gone to FAANG, it seems like AMZN pays more than F and G, but gives no perks whatsoever. I think one office got snacks in their break room and that was seen as out of the ordinary.
I've heard the same wrt AMZN's vesting schedule, but they make you whole by providing a signing bonus years 1 and 2.
